I t is said, ‘An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth.’ “But I tell you, Do not be so quick to defend yourself. If someone strikes you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also. And if someone wants to sue you and take your money, ask him if he has further needs as well. If someone forces you to go one mile, go with him two miles. Give to the one who asks you, and do not turn away from the one who wants to borrow from you. Never forget that you may also be in need.

A little girl brought Jesus a gourd filled with water from which he pulled several deep swallows. Wiping his mouth with his sleeve, he glanced at the sun which stood high in the afternoon.
